A 0:0 that doesn’t help either team. Wehen Wiesbaden and SC Verl part with a goalless draw. The Verlers are more dangerous, especially in the second half, but miss all the chances.
Wiesbaden coach Markus Kauczinski, who had to do without Taffertshofer, among others, who tested positive for the coronavirus, made two changes after the 1-0 defeat at the Betzenberg: Farouk and Thiel started instead of Wurtz and Hollerbach (both on the bench).
Verl coach Guerino Capretti made five changes to his team after the 2:4 defeat against 1. FC Saarbrücken: Lach, Jürgensen, Akono and Berlinski started for Schäfer, Baack, Putaro and Petkov. In addition, Brüseke replaced Thiede, who was injured last week against Saarbrücken.
Nilsson showed his scoring threat right away in the opening minutes. Verl, however, were able to control the Wiesbaden striker’s attempts (1st, 2nd).
Akono misses best Verl opportunities
In the aftermath, goalmouth scenes were rather rare. SVWW did more in the way of forward play, creating good chances after a good half hour (28th, 31st). Akono, who had been served by Lannert, had the best chance, but could not put the ball on goal from close range (19.).
Even after half-time, the offensive player had promising opportunities, but missed twice in a row: First he missed (69th), then he shot over while standing free in front of the goal (71st).
Thiel missed the best Wiesbaden scene of the second half: He was decisively interrupted by the Verl goalkeeper Brüseke at the last moment (51).
While Wiesbaden was better in the first half, Verl pressed more resolutely after the change of ends. However, there was no goal either side, and so both teams had to live with a draw that didn’t really help either team.
Wiesbaden face Waldhof Mannheim on St. Nicholas Day at 7 p.m., Verl host BVB on the Saturday before (2 p.m.).
