Just under a week and a half before the third FGS Qualifier, EA SPORTS has banned numerous players from official tournaments for illegal trading.
Not for the first time this season, the developer and organiser of the FIFA 22 Global Series (FGS) has changed the requirements for participation in the qualifiers at short notice. While so far only the number of players has been increased to create a larger field, this time various professionals have been excluded.
In Europe alone, more than 20 names have already been removed from the list of qualifiers for the third FGS Qualifier next weekend. The wave of bans is related to unauthorised coin trading outside the FUT transfer market and the regulations laid down by EA SPORTS. This can be, for example, a prohibited purchase of coins or the moving of in-game currency from account to account.
Not the first FGS 22 controversy
Those affected, however, will not only have to sit out the upcoming competition, but will be banned for an entire year at once – the FGS 22 season is over for them. “This penalty applies globally to the ability to participate in FGS events, qualifiers and related tournaments such as partner tournaments,” EA communicated.
The publisher has always had to deal with controversies surrounding the Global Series: before the first Qualifier, many players had complained about opponents competing on the PlayStation 4. In the meantime, the old console generation has been excluded, and only the PlayStation 5 is still eligible for tickets.
‘Ekooo32_TTV’ and ‘Minusmacher31’ in it
Among the replacements for the banned players are two Germans in the Eastern Europe zone: Ekrem ‘Ekooo32_TTV’ Dogan of Team Deft Fox and Marcel ‘Minusmacher31’ Gramann of FSV Zwickau have made the jump after all, after almost two months of initial disappointment.
Incidentally, the perceived need for illicit trading would not exist if the FGS did not take place in FUT. Thanks to the pay-to-win factor, however, there is an advantage to be gained from this illegal practice. In the social networks, the accusation has therefore already been made that this is a home-made problem.
