The Czech wins the first Grand Slam title of her career. But for Ons Jabeur, a final curse continues – the match goes unhappily for the Tunisian
Marketa Vondroušová has won the final of Wimbledon 2023. The Czech beat Ons Jabeur 6-4, 6-4 in the final in London to celebrate the first Grand Slam title of her career. The last time the legendary Billie Jean King won at Wimbledon was in 1963 without being a top seed. Vondroušová converted her second match point after 1:20 hours.
For the Tunisian Jabeur, however, a black streak continues – the 28-year-old has now also lost her third Majors final. Jabeur had already reached the Wimbledon final in 2022, when Yelena Rybakina was too strong. Especially tragic: Jabeur squandered a 4:2 lead in the first set and was already 3:1 up in the second.
