Von Arnim re-elected as head of the tennis association

Dietloff von Arnim continues as President of the German Tennis Federation. However, the re-election is not without its problems

Dietloff von Arnim remains President of the German Tennis Federation (DTB). However, the former long-time organizer of the World Team Cup in Düsseldorf only won the election in Cologne in the third round with 107 yes votes (89.9 percent), as announced by the DTB.

In the first two rounds on Sunday, the 63-year-old narrowly missed out on the necessary simple majority with 50 percent. The President of the Westphalian Tennis Association, Robert Hampe, had stood as an opposing candidate and only withdrew after the second round of voting.

Von Arnim succeeded Ulrich Klaus at the end of January 2021 and is now entering his second term as DTB President, which is set to run for the next four years. “We have achieved a lot in recent years on our way to professionalizing and modernizing the association, but we are not yet at the end of this development,” said von Arnim in an association statement after the 75th general meeting of the DTB.

Von Arnim wanted to become President of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) this year, but was clearly defeated in the election in Cancun, Mexico, at the end of September as a challenger to the American incumbent David Haggerty.
