Voloder leaves Cologne for Maribor

Robert Voloder is signed permanently by the Slovenian first division club after his six-month loan to NK Maribor. The record champions pulled the option to buy.

In the summer of 2021, the 20-year-old centre-back had moved to Maribor on loan from 1. FC Köln. Voloder immediately became a regular and played 20 games (two goals) for the Slovenian record holders. In order to sign the German U-20 international on a permanent basis, Maribor now exercised the option to buy.

Voloder had played for the Geißböcken since 2016, but did not make any Bundesliga appearances due to competition in defence. The Frankfurt native played 27 games in the Regionalliga West.

“Robert has developed into a regular player, which makes us happy “

“Robert has developed into a regular player since his transfer, which makes us happy for him, and that’s why it was the logical step for Maribor to take the purchase option. We wish him all the best and much success for his future,” Jörg Jakobs, FC’s sporting director, was quoted as saying in a club statement.
