Vinicius Junior has to look on twice

At the weekend, Real’s Vinicius Junior caused a stir in Valencia. After his red card, the penalty has now been announced.

In the 78th minute, Vinicius Junior and Valencia goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski clashed. The Brazilian responded to the goalkeeper’s provocation with a push. The goalkeeper then went down theatrically and made a lot out of this scene.

Referee Cesar Soto Grado was subsequently sent to the monitor and watched the scene a few times. The referee decided to send the attacking player from Madrid off the field with a straight red card. Dimitrievski saw the yellow card. Vinicius Junior was subsequently beside himself, raging on the sidelines and had to be held back by teammates. He then disappeared into the catacombs.

The referee’s report stated that the player “deliberately struck an opponent on the head with significant force when the ball was not in play”. This behavior has now earned Vinicius Junior a two-match league suspension, as decided by the RFEF Competition Commission.

Despite being a man down, Real turned the game around in Valencia thanks to two late goals from Luka Modric and Jude Bellingham to win 2-1.

Vinicius Junior can play in the Supercup

In the next two league games against Las Palmas (January 19, 4:15 p.m.) and at Real Valladolid (January 26), Real Madrid will now have to play without the world footballer. However, the Brazilian is eligible to play for the Whites in the Spanish Super Cup, which will see them face Mollarca on Thursday. The tournament, which also features FC Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao, is taking place in Saudi Arabia.
