Vinicius Junior has invested in the Portuguese club FC Alverca. The Real attacker, along with other investors, secured approximately 80 percent of the shares.
Things have been looking worse for FC Alverca. It was only in the summer that the club from the Lisbon suburb returned to the 2nd division, after 22 match days it is in second place and thus in a direct promotion place. And now there is also the prospect of a healthy cash injection – thanks to Vinicius Junior.
According to a report by Brazilian portal UOL, the Real attacker is at the head of a group of investors that has just acquired almost 80 percent of the club’s shares. The previous owner, Ricardo Vicintin, has already officially confirmed the deal in a statement, although he does not mention any names. “Together with my family, I have very carefully selected to whom I leave this treasure,” said Vicintin. Many had already “tried their luck”. But we have passed the baton on to people whom we are convinced will do just as well or better than we did.”
Vinicius is said to have invested eight million euros together with a group of Brazilian and Spanish investors. The last time Alverca was in the top division was in the 2003/04 season. They were relegated and shortly afterwards the club was dissolved due to financial difficulties. In 2018, the former club of players like Deco, Maniche and Ricardo Carvalho returned from obscurity by being promoted to the third division.
Mbappé gave Caen no boost
Vinicius is not the only Real Madrid player to appear as a club investor. Kylian Mbappé took a majority share in the French second division club SM Caen for 15 million euros in the summer. However, his involvement has not yet been crowned with success. The northern French side are bottom of the league after nine consecutive defeats, with safety already ten points away.
