Vince Carter Agrees to One-Year Deal with Atlanta Hawks

At 41, Vince Carter is one of the most experienced NBA players that you will come across. The veteran is reported to have just signed a one-year contract with Atlanta Hawks, with his influence on the younger players said to be key to Hawks wanting to bring him in. Last year he showed at Sacramento Kings that he is a strong leader in the locker room and a player that can show the younger guys how to succeed.

Carter not continuing for the money

Carter recently insisted that it is his love of the game that has kept him so motivated to keep fit, saying: “It’s not a money thing. Obviously, you want to be compensated for what you bring to the table, I get that, but it’s not the end of the world. I put the extra work in, whatever the case may be to be able to do this, to play games, to compete.”

Exciting prospects Young and Collins will benefit from having Carter around

At Hawks, he will be helping to guide a whole new generation of NBA stars with the exciting prospects of Trae Young and John Collins to work with. Veteran free agent Vince Carter is rumoured to have agreed a $2.4 million veteran minimum. The deal will see him continue as the NBA’s oldest player in what will be his 21st season in the NBA.

Having young talent is one of the key elements of a successful team but good coaches understand the importance of having the right people around them, to help develop their game. Travis Schlenk selected three players to rebuild their roster and create a team that has a very promising future. Now Carter will be on hand to share his wisdom and expertise to the NBA stars of the future.
