VF-22: Haas to unveil Mick Schumacher’s new Formula 1 car on Friday

Haas will be the first Formula 1 team to unveil its new car for 2022 on Friday – It is unclear whether it will actually be the real thing

For a long time Haas has not announced a launch date for Mick Schumacher and Nikita Masepin’s new VF-22, but now the US squad has put its money where its mouth is. Via social media, Haas has announced that it will present the new car on Friday (4 February) – making it the first of the ten Formula 1 racing teams to do so.

“We will present the car at the beginning of February. It’s possible that we’ll be the first to present it,” team boss Günther Steiner recently announced to ‘RTL’. And that’s how it will be, because no other Formula 1 team has yet shown the completely new car for the 2022 season.

However, it is unclear whether the team will show the real car or just renderings, as has been the case in the past. Officially, the event, which starts at 12:00 on Friday, is called a “car unveiling”. At the same time, however, it is also said that there will be a glimpse of the “paint job”.

So it’s possible that there will only be a glimpse of the new design on a 3D model of the 2022 car, and that the real car won’t be seen until testing in Barcelona (23-25 February). In 2021, Haas surprised everyone with a radical design change to the colours white, blue and red.

With regard to the 2022 design, Steiner recently told ‘RTL’ with a grin: “I won’t say anything. Otherwise I’ll take away the element of surprise …”
