The FSV Zwickau will not be able to rely on Felix Brand again this season. As the third-division club announced on Tuesday evening, the 20-year-old will be out for months with cartilage damage in his left knee.
Brand has been in the Zwickau squad seven times so far, but he has not yet made an appearance – and he won’t in the next few months either. A cartilage damage forces the left-back to be sidelined until the end of the season.
“The diagnosis was very bitter news for us,” said Zwickau’s sports director Toni Wachsmuth, “we know that such a serious injury is not easy for a young player.” Brand has already undergone surgery this Tuesday and now faces a long rehabilitation period.
After his youth years with TSG Hoffenheim and 1. FSV Mainz 05, the 20-year-old moved on to Astoria Walldorf II and TuS Mechtersheim in the Oberliga before coming to Zwickau this season. He will now have to wait for his professional debut.
