His father Jos Verstappen raced 107 times with teams such as Terrell, Stewart Ford and Arrows. He thinks his son can finally win again at Monaco on May 27th because of the circuit better suiting Red Bull’s RB14 racing car.

“I understand that everyone likes the podium, but we want more,” Jos told Ziggo Sport. ”If we can make it to the front row during qualifying, Max can win every race. Because of these front wings, it’s just incredibly hard to overtake.

People are saying that Max needs eradicate his aggressive style in order to win, Verstappen senior tipped the 20-year-old to keep his foot on the throttle. We just want to win. That’s why I’m looking at Monaco.

“The engine is not that important – the car is important there. And in the slow corners, Red Bull is really the best,” Jos said.
