The Virtual Bundesliga (VBL) Club Championship by bevestor is currently looking for the “Top Performer of the First Round” – four players are available for voting.
While the second half of the season is already gathering pace, the VBL Club Championship is taking a look back. On Twitter, fans can currently vote for the player who was the “top performer of the first half of the season” – there was no clear favourite at the start of voting.
According to the VBL, the two best players in each of the two divisions according to the statistics are up for election: Riad ‘H96_Riad’ Fazlija (Hannover 96) and Michael ‘MegaBit’ Bittner (SV Werder Bremen) from the North-West Division as well as Umut ‘RBLZ_UMUT’ Gültekin (RB Leipzig) and Philipp ‘Eisvogel’ Schermer (FC Ingolstadt 04) from the South-East Division.
Performers of the surprise first team
In the North-West, Hannover 96 have been uninterruptedly at the top of the table since the tenth matchday. H96_Riad’, who is among the three best players in the league with 16 wins and eight double victories in both categories, has been involved in a large part of the 81 points currently scored by the Lower Saxons.
Behind the Hannoverians, currently five points behind, is SV Werder Bremen, who are back in brilliant form after a disappointing tenth place in the pre-season. The Werder comeback is closely linked to the upswing of ‘MegaBit’.
The 22-year-old, who was named player of the season in the 2019/20 championship season, is particularly impressive offensively and is one of the league’s most prolific scorers with 38 goals. After matchday 16, his account stands at 13 wins.
‘RBLZ_UMUT’ and ‘Kingfisher’ shine with goal threat
In the south-east, RB Leipzig are once again among the hottest contenders for the main round victory, only last week the Leipzigers had reclaimed first place. The dominant figure in the team is ‘RBLZ_UMUT’. The reigning FIFA individual champion is also coming up trumps in the VBL Club Championship, posting top scores in all categories.
18 wins are tops in the league, and with 41 goals, the 19-year-old is also the third most prolific scorer. Eisvogel’, for whom the move to FC Ingolstadt 04 has paid off so far, can look back on just as many goals.
Individually, he has won 13 matches, making him, along with Timo ‘TimoX’ Siep, the “Schanzer’s” guarantor of success. At the end of the first half of the season, Ingolstadt led the table and is currently in third place, five points behind RB Leipzig. However, Ingolstadt is still one game behind.
After just two days, a winner is already emerging: ‘H96_Riad’ is currently clearly in the lead with 57.7 per cent, ‘RBLZ_UMUT’ follows with 22 per cent. MegaBit’ (14.6 per cent) and ‘Eisvogel’ (5.7 per cent) seem to have no chance, an end to the voting has not been communicated.
