VBL: Head-to-head race in South-East comes to a head

RB Leipzig and SV Werder Bremen have defended their leads in the VBL Club Championship – in Division South-East the duel is coming to a head.

Ingolstadt exclamation mark against Augsburg

Only one point was missing for FC Ingolstadt to return to the top of the South-East Division on the tenth double matchday of the Virtual Bundesliga (VBL) Club Championship by bevestor – with a total of 14 points, however, the Schanzers put in a strong performance on Wednesday evening.

The runners-up rolled over SV Sandhausen 9:0 with 12:1 goals, followed by a 5:2 win against FC Augsburg. In the singles, the players each drew with each other.

Then there was a winner in the doubles. The Ingolstadt team defeated the Bedercke brothers. Ingolstadt are now ten points ahead of the Swabians in second place in the table.

Nine from nine: Leipzig remain in front

Only once was RB Leipzig challenged on Wednesday and therefore ran the risk of losing first place in the table. In the end, it was a point landing: against Nuremberg, the Saxons managed a brilliant 9:0 victory, which puts them level on points with Ingolstadt and keeps them at the top.

Umut ‘RBLZ_UMUT’ Gültekin won 3:0 against Antonio ‘AntonioRadelja’ Radelja, Richard ‘RBLZ_GAUCHO’ Hormes won 1:0 against Yannick ‘klastocky’ Grum, in the 2vs2 of these four players the victory also went to Leipzig with 3:0. RB thus set off their fourth 9-bomb this season.

Hertha are in the top 6 for the first time

Hertha BSC remain the surprise team of the season: The capital city side had failed to win six times in a row, but is currently on the march. Thanks to the 7:1 win against Augsburg and the 6:3 win against SpVgg Greuther Fürth, ‘Cihan’ & Co. moved up to sixth place and thus to a play-off place for the first time this season.

Eren ‘ErenPyrz030’ Poyraz was the guarantor of success against Augsburg with wins in the singles and doubles, while against Fürth, Cihan ‘Cihan’ Yasarlar and Christoph ‘Chrissi291’ Strietzel provided the points in the singles.

Hoffenheim still have an ace up their sleeve

The chasing pack continues to jostle behind Hertha, with places six and nine currently separated by just six points. In pole position among the chasing trio is TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, who even have an ace up their sleeve.

Because: The double matches had to be postponed. Should TSG win both matches, they would still snatch sixth place from Hertha. The singles went well for the Sinsheimers: Jan-Luca ‘Bassinho’ Baß and Fabrice ‘whiteezz05’ Weiß won 6:0 against Fürth and 1:4 against Eintracht Frankfurt.

‘Denii10’ and ‘burak__may’ not to be beaten

The most point-hungry team of the day was 1. FC Heidenheim. Just the previous week, the defending champions had crashed to ninth place, but with 16 of the 18 possible points, their path now led them in the opposite direction again.

In fifth place, Heidenheim are currently five points ahead of seventh. Deniel ‘Denii10’ Mutic and Burak ‘burak__may’ May shone with a 9-0 win against Frankfurt, followed by a 7-1 win against Regensburg.

While ‘burak__may’ also claimed two wins in the singles and doubles in this encounter, Simon ‘harterschuss22’ Zügel had to settle for a 1:1 against Leon ‘leonk_twitchtv’ Kipry.

Werder make short work of it in top match

Only the previous week, SV Werder Bremen had secured first place in the North-West Division, and after the tenth double matchday, the two-time champions can now already look forward to an eleven-point lead. In the top match, the Hanseatic team managed to beat Hannover 96 without losing a point.

Bremen’s lead could have been even greater with Hannover’s 2:5 against Cologne. However, Werder also had to settle for a 2:5 against Rostock. For 96, Riad ‘H96_Riad’ Fazlija, recently voted “Top Performer of the Hinrunde”, did not make an appearance.

Hanseatic teams breathing down Hannover’s neck

Hanover’s two-point evening pushed their pursuers closer to second place again: first and foremost Hamburger SV and FC Hansa Rostock, who are now only four points each behind the Lower Saxons.

Rostock had drawn 4:4 against Paderborn before their success against Bremen, while HSV had a total of eight points. Six of them went to the account of Steffen ‘Funino’ Pöppe: First he scored the Hamburgers on the Xbox to a 5:2 against Kiel, then he also managed a win in the 3:6 against Leverkusen.

‘Hasoo’ shines, Schalke in fifth place

There was no getting past Hasan ‘Hasoo’ Eker on Tuesday. The Schalke man made four appearances and four times he put the controller aside as the winner, ensuring a mighty move for the Königsblauen in the table.

With a total of 13 points, Schalke moved up five places and, in fifth, are back in the play-off places for the first time since matchday one. S04 won 7:1 against Wolfsburg and 6:3 against St. Pauli. In addition to the two singles wins by ‘Hasoo’, Julius ‘Juli’ Kühle contributed a point in the singles, and together they also won the doubles.

‘marc_ldw23’ gives Bayer seven points

Bayer 04 Leverkusen’s form curve, on the other hand, continues to point downwards. Although the 6:3 win against Hamburg was a surprise success, Fabian ‘B04_Dubzje’ De Cae & Co. had to admit defeat against St. Pauli with 1:7.

The seven points were not enough to leave tenth place – the last time Bayer had been in the top 6 was after the eleventh matchday. The bright spot this time was Marc ‘marc_ldw23’ Landwehr, who provided two threes against Hamburg in singles and doubles and at least a point against St. Pauli with a 2:2 against Kamal ‘fcsp_kamal’ Kamboj.

Double ensures Cologne turnaround

The doubles were reliable for 1. FC Köln: Denis ‘Denis’ Müller and Tim ‘TheStrxngeR’ Katnawatos played together twice and secured important points and victory for their team. First there was a 2:1 against Gladbach’s Yannick ‘bmg_jeffryy’ Reiners and Eleftherios ‘bmg_lefti’ Ilias for the Cologne team’s 5:2 derby victory.

This was followed by a 3-0 win over ‘H96_Jannik’ and ‘H96_Can’ to beat Hannover 5-2. The turnaround for FC could thus have been achieved, after all, before that the team had only managed one win in eight games. With a three-point gap to St. Pauli, Cologne remain in seventh place and within striking distance of the play-off places.
