SV Werder Bremen and FC St. Pauli withstood the pressure of the play-offs and qualified for the final of the VBL Club Championship.
Mightily annoyed SV Werder Bremen had fallen in the previous week, but the Hanseatic side took the diversions via the play-offs with aplomb. With 2:0 after wins against 1. FC Nürnberg, Werder still made it to the final of the Virtual Bundesliga (VBL) Club Championship by bevestor.
Ali ‘PredatorFIFA’ Oskoui Rad made everything clear for the North Germans with a 1:0 on the Xbox against Daniel ‘Bubu’ Butenko. Before that, he and Fabio ‘Fifabio97’ Sabbagh had already won the 2vs2 opener against Antonio ‘AntonioRadelja’ Radelja and ‘Bubu’ 2-1.
“It’s a shame that we couldn’t reward ourselves for a strong season with the Grand Final,” ‘AntonioRadelja’ said afterwards. He referred to the absence of Yannick ‘klastocky’ Grum : “Despite Yannick’s Corona illness, we competed well in an unfamiliar line-up, but we also lacked the match luck you need to beat Werder. “
‘fcsp_musti’ wrestles down ‘Yannic0109’
Before Werder, FC St. Pauli had already made it to the final, but had to go the full distance against FC Augsburg. After the doubles between Mustafa ‘fcsp_musti’ Cankal and Kamal ‘fcsp_kamal’ Kamboj and Philipp ‘Phlip1089’ Bederke and Yannic ‘Yannic0109’ Bederke had ended goalless, St. Pauli fought their way into the final in the singles.
Although ‘Yannic0109’ dominated the match against ‘fcsp_musti’ for long stretches and came close to taking the lead with a goal against the post, the Hanseatic player scored after an hour to win 1:0 against the former German singles champion. In the third match, ‘fcsp_kamal’ picked up a 3-0 win over Lukas ‘LukasR18’ Rathgeb, St. Pauli can thank their top duo for their place in the final.
He was “very disappointed” with his performances this season, Augsburg’s ‘LukasR18’ explained afterwards on Twitter. “Unfortunately I couldn’t match the level of the last few years right from the start, otherwise there might have been more in it as a team as well. “
