On Wednesday evening Liverpool announced the arrival of Virgil van Dijk. The 26-year-old centre defender is said to have inherited 84.5 million euros from Southampton and will join the selection of manager Jürgen Klopp on 1 January. Georginio Wijnaldum is pleased to welcome his compatriot and fellow international colleagues on Anfield.

Earlier on the day Klopp announced that Van Dijk will be given time to adapt to Liverpool. The stopper came into action for Southampton only twelve times during the first half of the season, partly due to injury suffering. He played his last match for the Saints on 13 December against Leicester City.
