Virgil van Dijk is part of the preselection of the Dutch team for the matches against Scotland and Romania. The name of the defender was nowhere on the list, but that was due to an administrative error on the part of the KNVB.
A mistake has been made in the administrative handling,”the football association communicates. The 26-year-old Van Dijk is currently at 14 international level; he made his debut for his country in October 2015 in the EK qualification competition against Kazakhstan (1-2 winnings).
Van Dijk comes from the youth training of William II and made the transition to FC Groningen in the summer of 2010. Via Celtic he arrived at Southampton in mid-2015 and he is still under contract until 2022. Van Dijk has so far played 72 official competitions for the Saints, and in that game he achieved 7 goals.
