Wesley Sneijder indicated in a telephone conversation with federal coach Dick Ad Advocate that he found the call of Virgil van Dijk during the previous inter-country period strange. Sneijder wondered why the defender of Southampton was there, and why he didn’t. Van Dijk has got the story along with him, but thinks that it should not be made bigger than it is.
Sneijder hardly ever arrived at OGC Nice and was left out of the Orange selection. Van Dijk didn’t have many more matches in his legs, but he got a call,”I don’t think he said it in such a tone”, says Van Dijk in conversation with Football Inside,”You want to create that. Why wouldn’t it be nice for me? I do not think we should make anything of this. He has told it in a completely different way. I understand on the one hand where it comes from, but I can’t do anything else with it.
Van Dijk didn’t worry about Sneijder’s words for a moment,”It didn’t do me anything at all. I understand thunder well how it works in the media. If it is not, I will hear it of course, but I don’t think so”.
