The upheaval at Alba Berlin is progressing: Centre Ben Lammers is also leaving the capital city team.
As Alba Berlin announced on Monday, Lammers will join Eurocup winner CB Gran Canaria. With this, the US-American leaves Alba after three seasons in which he won two championships and once the BBL Cup.
“He’s a great player and teammate who helped us achieve great things,” sporting director Himar Ojeda said of Lammers.
There will be no quick reunion, however: Gran Canaria waives the right to start in the upcoming Euroleague season for economic reasons, instead Valencia will continue to participate in the elite league.
The Berliners are in the midst of a squad shake-up after a disappointing, title-less 2022/23 season. With Tamir Blatt (Tel Aviv), Maodo Lo (Olimpia Milan), Luke Sikma (Olympikos Piraeus), Jaleen Smith (Virtus Bologna) and Yovel Zoosman (Hapoel Jerusalem), several key players are leaving the club this summer.
