Takaaki Nakagami’s violent starting accident at the MotoGP race in Barcelona has consequences
The race organizers have refrained from penalizing the LCR Honda rider, which his opponents Alex Rins and Francesco Bagnaia cannot understand. But Rins has suffered an injury.
As MotoGP promoter Dorna announced via Twitter on Sunday evening, Rins suffered a fracture to his left wrist in the crash. The Suzuki rider is currently listed as “not fit”. It is not yet clear whether he will be able to ride in the upcoming German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring (17-19 June).

Indes Nakagami is still in a hospital in Barcelona and is being examined. However, the first reports are positive. As the LCR Honda team announced in a statement sent out on Sunday evening, a full-body scan on Nakagami revealed “no broken bones. “
But due to the severity of the accident, Nakagami will remain in hospital until Monday. He will miss Monday’s official MotoGP test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya just like Rins. Currently, Nakagami is also listed as “not fit”.
In the ranks of the three MotoGP riders involved in the accident, Bagnaia is the only one who did not have to visit a hospital. Nothing currently stands in the way of his participation in the German Grand Prix in a fortnight’ time.
Should Rins and/or Nakagami have to miss the upcoming German Grand Prix, the next race will also come into focus. Only one week later (24 to 26 June), the Dutch Grand Prix will take place in Assen. Following the Assen race, there will then be the long summer break, which has become even longer due to the cancellation of the Finnish Grand Prix.
