Good news for anyone who still wants to play FM24: the latest installment in the series will remain available to buy in digital stores – and subscription models will continue to include it in their portfolio.
Quo vadis, Football Manager? Fans, players and journalists are still in the dark. How far has the development of the game that is supposed to usher in a new era progressed? What do the revised graphics look like? Many questions, few answers.
One of the most pressing questions was what would happen to the current version after the cancellation of Football Manager 2025. Usually, older titles are replaced by the latest version on online marketplaces such as Steam or the PlayStation Store. Most recently, it was announced that FM24 would remain available until March 2024. However, when this decision was announced, it was not yet known that there would be no FM25.
Shortly before the deadline expired, Sports Interactive announced: “FM24, FM24 Console and FM24 Touch will continue to be available through the end of the year via Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store, PlayStation Store and Nintendo eShop.” In addition, the respective versions will remain available via Apple Arcade, Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation Plus and Netflix. Whether licenses need to be adjusted is not clear from the developer’s announcement.
No exact release date for FM26
Some had hoped that the new regulation would allow a more accurate estimate of the release window for FM26. However, it remains unclear whether the new part will be released as usual at the beginning of November or a little earlier or later.
To keep FM24 interesting, the community worked hard. A mod bundle at least updates the database to make FM24 effectively FM25. In addition, there are now several engine mods – including four different versions of FMTweak. These change the feel of the game, either towards more realism, faster and more physical gameplay, or simply “pure chaos”.
