Unnecessary tension – but still a commanding victory: Bayern lets Frankfurt run riot

Bayern Munich also won their second game of the season. On Monday, coach Andrea Trinchieri’s team celebrated an 83:74 (37:26) away win at the Fraport Skyliners.

On Monday, coach Andrea Trinchieri’s FCB team celebrated an 83:74 (37:26) away win at the Fraport Skyliners. Cassius Winston scored 23 points for the Bavarians. For the Frankfurt team, ex-Munich player Joshua Obiesie was the most successful with 15 points.

After a sluggish opening quarter with a number of mistakes, the Bavarians got into the game better.

Under the eyes of national coach Gordon Herbert, a 16:2 run gave the favourites a 33:17 lead. The hosts from Hesse hardly managed anything during this phase. It was only after coach Geert Hammink’s second time-out that things improved.

Feeling confident of victory, Munich slowed down too early and allowed the hosts to come within five points of a 25-point lead in the final quarter. Thanks to individual class, however, the victory was carried over time.

In the second holiday game, the Würzburg Baskets celebrated an 89:82 (39:38) away win at the Basketball Löwen in Braunschweig. C.J. Bryce and Stanley Whittaker each contributed 19 points to the Franconians’ first win of the season. The best scorer for the Lower Saxons in their opener was Braydon Hobbs with 18 points.
