Ulm stumbles over Rostock – runners-up defeat the Lions

The German champions suffered another defeat after four wins in a row, ratiopharm Ulm lost to Rostock. The runners-up from Bonn, on the other hand, were allowed to celebrate, Chemnitz is first

The defending champions ratiopharm Ulm have suffered their second defeat of the season in the German Basketball League. The league leaders surprisingly lost 89:107 (52:55) to the Rostock Seawolves in their own arena on Sunday. Rostock laid the foundation for its unexpected success in the third quarter, which it won by 29:18. Rostock’s best scorer was Derrick Alston Jr. with 24 points. Karim Jallow scored 20 points for Ulm.

Niners Chemnitz took advantage of Ulm’s slip-up to take a commanding 79:58 (38:26) win at EWE Baskets Oldenburg and move top of the table. It was the 16th win in a row in all competitions for the club from Saxony. The American Wesley van Beck was the outstanding Niners player with 28 points and eight rebounds.

The top clash between Alba Berlin and Bayern Munich scheduled for Sunday had to be canceled due to the snow chaos in the Bavarian capital. “The reason for the postponement is the heavy onset of winter in Munich and the surrounding area, which makes it impossible for the visiting team to travel to Berlin the day before the game,” the league announced. The decision was made in consultation with both clubs. It remains to be seen when the clash between the two Euroleague clubs will be rescheduled
