Frenchman Clement Turpin will referee FC Bayern’s Champions League Round of 16 second leg against Red Bull Salzburg. Thomas Müller remembers him
Frenchman Clement Turpin will be in charge of FC Bayern’s Champions League Round of 16 second leg against Red Bull Salzburg. The 39-year-old evokes quite different memories for the Munich side ahead of this Tuesday’s match at the Allianz Arena.
So Turpin was also on duty on the way to Munich’s Champions League win in 2020. He blew the whistle in the 3-0 first leg of the round of 16 tie in London against Chelsea FC. In the 3-3 group stage draw at Ajax Amsterdam in December 2018, the Frenchman again showed Thomas Müller the red card after an unfortunate foul.
The German record champions have not lost any of their five games in the top flight so far under Turpin’s stewardship. A good omen? The first leg in Salzburg ended 1-1.
