After a desolate performance during the week, Hertha wants to show a reaction against Dortmund. Sporting director Fredi Bobic also looked a little further ahead.
Tayfun Korkut has been in charge of Berlin Hertha for three games now. After the 2:2 in Stuttgart and the 2:0 home win against Bielefeld, they suffered a crushing 0:4 in Mainz during the week. Undoubtedly a bitter setback, although the coach was not quite so negative. “As a coach, I have gained new knowledge. However, it is saved that we had two decent games before that,” Korkut stressed on the capital club’s website, adding, however: “Without question, the performance on Tuesday was not good, we all didn’t like it. But the team is better than it presented itself. They have already proved that. The match is now over for now, our absolute focus is on Dortmund. “
The match against Borussia on Saturday evening is the conclusion of the first half of the season for the Old Lady. “We want to go into the game with courage and joy – just like in the games before Mainz. A resolute defensive performance will be important, we all have to work together against the ball. But we also want to see elements with the ball that distinguished our game in Stuttgart and against Bielefeld. We want to have our own forward actions,” Korkut said.
A three-goal win against top team Dortmund would also mean a somewhat calmer Christmas for the Berliners. Hertha have not had a good season so far, sitting in 14th place with 18 points and thus very close to the relegation zone again. The question for the club from the capital is, of course, whether they will add more players in the winter. “It will be an interesting window. My mobile is chaos, it’s ringing all the time. It’s clearance sales and Christmas sales right now,” said Bobic and then quickly got a little more serious: “With the pandemic, we don’t know what’s coming. “
Bobic will analyse the squad closely
The Berliners have already made their first winter transfer with the signing of Norwegian Fredrik André Björkan. “We will take another close look at our squad,” said Bobic, stressing that the capital club had “the right answer for every situation”. At any price, however, the 14th in the table will certainly not become active. “Sometimes these are pipe dreams, because the reality on the European market is quite different,” said the 50-year-old.
