Tottenham may have to start the season one man down!

A possibility of Son Heung-Min missing the start of the Premier League

South Korea’s under-23’s manager (Kim Hak-Bum) has explained that Son Heung-Min could miss next season’s start for Tottenham. This is as he desires to compete in the Asian Games instead. His decision is based on the fact he will no longer be required by the military if he is to obtain a gold medal at the games. The Premier League season is scheduled to begin on August 11th, with the Asian Games starting on the 18th. He may not be there to compete for Tottenham’s start in the Premier League.

The Asian Games are not on the FIFA calendar, so Spurs aren’t obliged to let Son compete in the Tournament. However, there’s a high possibility the club is debating providing him with a chance to earn his exemption.

For the tournament, Kim Hak-Bum has been scouting for candidates across Europe. He spoke to the Yonhap news agency about this situation with Son. “Son has a strong will to compete at the Asian Games, but first, there’s the World Cup. I told Son to play well in Russia before we meet at the Asian Games. It’s a sensitive issue, I believe the Korea Football Association will handle this matter well. The men’s senior national team, the U23 team, the KFA and the player’s club should all work closely.” When South Korea beat North Korea in the gold medal match in 2014, Son was declined permission to compete in the Asian Games. He was refused permission by former club Bayer Leverkusen
