Too many game crashes: GOALS postpones parts of the test

The upcoming soccer game GOALS is currently in a pre-alpha test phase. However, not all testers are included yet. Game crashes are the reason for this.

They are supposed to compete with EA SPORTS FC 25: UFL and GOALS. While UFL is preparing for its debut on the football games market, GOALS is still in an early test phase.

Over the weekend, about 65 percent of the registered players from France, the UK, Germany, Spain and Portugal were invited to the pre-alpha phase. However, according to the developers, difficulties arose. “Unfortunately, we have experienced crashes in about ten percent of the games,” writes GOALS on X. The development team is ‘working hard to fix the problem.’ At the same time, it was decided to withhold the remaining 35 percent of the invitations. These are to go out next weekend: ‘Together with others to more players across Europe.’

2025 on the market?

It is not yet known exactly when GOALS will be released. The official Steam page for the game does give a rough timeframe of 2025, but this should be taken with a pinch of salt. For example, competitor UFL postponed its release several times – most recently from September to December 5. Sports Interactive also took this measure and moved the release of Football Manager 2025 to March.

Regardless of when GOALS is released, it is clear that it is intended to stand out from established football games such as FC 25 or eFootball. Former FIFA e-sportsman Kurt Fenech, who works as a consultant to CEO Andreas Thorstensson’s studio, once again emphasized this point in March. For example, instead of relying on official licenses, the developer is using a DNA system that is supposed to provide unique players on the pitch. In addition, players were promised real money earnings through online marketplaces.
