Timetable: The most important dates up to the World Cup 2022

The World Cup 2022 in Qatar will begin in about a year. The most important milestones up to the start of the tournament.

A World Cup draw before all the tickets have been allocated, the Nations League in the middle of June, a Bundesliga winter break as early as November: in the run-up to the next World Cup, things are different. Because Qatar 2022 will be played from 21 November to 18 December, i.e. shortly before Christmas, the football calendar had to be adjusted in many places in the new year.

26 November 2021: Draw for the European World Cup Play-offs in Zurich

30 November to 18 December 2021: FIFA Arab Cup with 23 Arab teams as dress rehearsal for World Cup host Qatar (replaces Confed Cup)

16 December 2021: Draw of Nations League groups

2022

24 to 29 March 2022: European World Cup play-offs; DFB eleven with two test matches.

1 April 2022: World Cup group draw in Doha

2 to 14 June 2022: Nations League, 1st to 4th matchday

June 2022: Intercontinental Play-offs (determination of the last two World Cup participants)

5 August 2022 Bundesliga opener 2022/23

22 to 27 September 2022: Nations League, 5th and 6th matchday

End of October 2022: World Cup squad nomination (changes possible up to one day before first group match)

11 to 13 November 2022: Last Bundesliga matchday before World Cup

14 November 2022: Beginning of the World Cup period

21 November 2022: World Cup kick-off
