Tiger Woods Refuses to be Drawn into the NBA and NFL Trump Feud

Following Tiger Wood’s appearance in The Northern Trust at Ridgewood, he was questioned by reporters about his relationship the US President Donald Trump.

When asked whether the relationship between the pair was ‘professional or personal’ Woods responded: “Well, I’ve known Donald for a number of years. We’ve played golf together. We’ve had dinner together. I’ve known him pre-presidency and obviously during his presidency.”

NFL and NBA players have protested against racial inequality

Trump is currently in the middle of a feud with NFL players who have refused to kneel during the national anthem, as part of their protest against racial inequality. He has also revoked the traditional White House invitations to NBA clubs after players said they would turn the offer down in protest.

Woods – “You have to respect the office”

Woods refused to be drawn into the issue and said: “Well, he’s the President of the United States. You have to respect the office. No matter who is in the office, you may like or dislike the personality or politics but we all must respect the office.” He then told reporters that he did not have anything more to add around the subject.

Tiger did not continue his great form into the tournament

Woods had a disappointing weekend at Ridgewood, where he finished well behind the leaders. DeChambeau won the tournament with 18 under, whilst Woods finished in joint 40th with an overall -4.

DeChambeau was ranked 21st in the World rankings going into the tournament and was one of the big surprises as the big names struggled at Ridgewood. Koepka and Thomas finished joint 8th in the top section of a leaderboard that was surprisingly dominated by lower ranked golfers.
