Tyson Fury challenges Anthony Joshua – who reacts. Will it really come to a mega-fight?
Tyson Fury called for the “Battle of Britain” in the boxing ring – and Anthony Joshua responded: the self-proclaimed “Gypsy King” publicly challenged his dethroned compatriot.
“If you’re interested, I’ll send you an appointment and we’ll fight each other,” the still unbeaten Fury said in an Instagram video. Joshua wrote on Twitter, “I’ll be ready in December. “
WBC champion Fury, 34, has been flirting with a return to the ring for weeks, with his last fight to date coming against Jamaica’s Dillian Whyte at Wembley in April. At times he declared his definitive retirement, then he raised half a billion dollars as a sum for another fight. On Monday, he announced that if Joshua shirked, he would look for another opponent.
Announcement from Joshua: “I will be ready for you “
Fury should contact his management, Joshua wrote, saying he would not continue to take part in “online discussions”. The Ukrainian Alexander holds the world championship belts of the WBA, WBO and IBF federations, but does not want to box again this year.
The 32-year-old concluded his twett with the word “Khalas”, meaning “end and out”.
Former heavyweight champion Joshua (32) is without a world title belt after two defeats to the Usyk, most recently in Jeddah/Saudi Arabia at the end of August.
Fury, on the other hand, had recently been speculated about a duel with Usyk after his multiple declarations of retirement, but the fight did not materialise.
