Theis is about to move to the Clippers

Daniel Theis has had an outstanding summer with the German national team. Things are not going well for the center in the NBA, which is why a transfer is now in the offing

Daniel Theis was one of the most important players for the German national team this summer. The center played a major role in the DBB team winning gold at the World Championships for the first time in history. Buddy and teammate Dennis Schröder has described Theis as an “anchor in defense”.

The German would also like to be that anchor in Indiana. The only problem is that the 31-year-old is hardly ever used there. In the Pacers’ eleven games this season, the center only played eight minutes once, scoring two points in that time. He spent all of the other ten games on the bench. Last year, he only played seven games in the NBA, also due to injury.

This is naturally a very unsatisfactory situation for the world champion. But now a change is in the offing. According to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, Theis has reached an agreement with Indiana on a buyout, i.e. the termination of his contract. The German is now planning to sign a new contract with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Plumlee is out for the time being

The deal would make perfect sense because Mason Plumlee, the Clippers’ back-up center, has injured his knee and is out for the time being. As a result, Los Angeles currently only has one fit center in its line-up, Ivica Zubac. Theis would therefore fit perfectly into this gap and could finally get more playing time in the team with Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, new signing James Harden and Russell Westbrook.

The Clippers could look forward to a seasoned NBA player. Theis has been playing in the league since 2017 and has played for Boston, Chicago, Houston and Indiana. The center has a total experience of 314 games in the regular season and scored an average of 7.5 points. The 31-year-old made 40 appearances in the play-offs (5.8 points).
