Theis and Schröder swap clubs

The trades in the NBA are picking up speed once again. Dallas has parted with Kristaps Porzingis – the Latvian moves to the Washington Wizards. Daniel Theis and Dennis Schröder swap clubs.

With the trade of James Harden to Philadelphia and the move of Ben Simmons to Brooklyn in return, there was already the first really big swap. A little later NBA expert Adrian Wojnarowski from ESPN announced the next very interesting trades: The two German national players Daniel Theis and Dennis Schröder swap clubs.

Theis will return to the Boston Celtics, where he played from 2017 until March 2021. After a short interlude in Chicago, he moved to Houston in the summer, where he averaged 8.4 points in 26 games (21 from the start). Now he returns to the Celtics, where he will no longer meet compatriot Schröder. The point guard is joining the Rockets in a trade deal.

In the summer, the 28-year-old moved from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Celtics. There he was quite convincing with an average of 14.4 points in 49 games (25 from the start). It is assumed that Schröder will then become a buyout candidate. He might even return to the Lakers in the summer. Because in the winter nothing more happens around the team around top star LeBron James, that has been confirmed in the meantime.

Mavs pass on Porzingis

However, something else has happened in Dallas. Because the Mavericks give away Porzingis to the Washington Wizards. In return, the Mavs get Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans. However, the Texans still have to cede a second-round pick to the Wizards.

In January 2019, Porzingis transferred to Dallas – but he kept struggling there, also due to some injuries. “The Unicorn” missed many games, but could already convince with his point output around 20 points on paper. All in all, the Mavericks had certainly hoped for more, and Porzingis, together with Luka Doncic, was supposed to bring back rosier times. Now the Latvian’s chapter with the Mavs is over.

Harrell moves to Charlotte

Porzingis is now hunting for a basket in Washington. Incidentally, he will no longer face Montrezl Harrell there, as he has been traded to Charlotte. One of the best sixth men in the league was only traded to Washington in the summer as part of the deal for Russell Westbrook to the Lakers.
