Theis about to sign with the Pelicans

Daniel Theis has found a new club: The German center will suit up for the New Orleans Pelicans next season

Daniel Theis did not play in the German national team’s international match against France in Cologne on Saturday. Just like the brothers Franz and Moritz Wagner. The reason for this was the contractual situation of the three professionals, who have not yet been able to sign a new contract in the NBA. This has led to difficulties with insurance, as the association announced.

However, this problem has now almost been solved. The Wagner brothers have already signed in Orlando and Theis has also clarified his future: as ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, who is usually well-informed, reports, the 32-year-old will sign a one-year contract with the New Orleans Pelicans.

Last season, Theis played for the Los Angeles Clippers, appearing 59 times in the regular season, averaging 6.3 points and grabbing 4.1 rebounds (17.1 minutes on average). The German then only played one game in the playoffs. The big man is now hoping for more playing time in New Orleans

First Olympia, then New Orleans

Theis is now entering his eighth year in the NBA. So far, he has played for the Boston Celtics, the Chicago Bulls, the Houston Rockets, the Indiana Pacers and, most recently, the LA Clippers. This makes the Pelicans the sixth NBA team for the German.

Before Theis starts this new chapter, however, there is a very special highlight on the agenda: the center will play with the German national team at the Olympic Games in Pairs. As the reigning world champions, the DBB team naturally has its sights set high
