Franz and Moritz Wagner are both fit and ready for pre-season in the NBA.
“I feel good. It was frustrating that I couldn’t play because it means a lot to me. It was a frustrating two weeks, but the upside is that I’m healthy and ready now,” said Moritz Wagner, who had to pull out of the European Championships due to an ankle injury just before the start of the tournament.
His younger brother Franz Wagner, one of the assets at the European Championships, also feels “ready” ahead of the Orlando Magic’s first practice. He had been injured in the round of 16 but still managed to finish the tournament.
“Just the beginning”: Moritz and the gold thoughts
The two Berliners each stressed how important the bronze medal had been for German basketball at the Orlando Magic’s media day on Monday. “This is just the beginning. I joked a bit with Franz that I’m glad they only won bronze because that’s motivation to win gold next year,” Moritz Wagner said.
In the summer of 2023, the World Cup will take place in Asia, hosted by Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines.
