THE REAL END OF A WWE CAREER?

On Monday Night RAW, the son of legend Bron Breakker beats a fellow wrestler into the hospital – it was probably his last WWE appearance.

Was this shock scene the end of an unfinished WWE career?

Following the latest edition of the Monday Night RAW TV show, there is a growing impression that former Intercontinental and US Champion Ricochet is set to leave the wrestling market leader and move to rival AEW.

The 35-year-old was apparently written out of the RAW program following an attack by young star Bron Breakker. Meanwhile, several media outlets are reporting that the exceptional wrestling performer has decided to leave WWE after the end of his contract.

Breakker threw Ricochet – who had attacked the son of WWE Hall of Famer Rick Steiner after a match against German-Russian Ilya Dragunov in revenge for an attack last week – backstage onto a car, among other things. Ricochet was eventually loaded into an ambulance on a stretcher, under the concerned gaze of his girlfriend, ring announcer Samantha Irvin.

After Pro Wrestling Insider, the Wrestling Observer also reported on Monday from scene guru Dave Meltzer – even before the live broadcast of RAW: The show would be Ricochet’s last WWE appearance, he had made his future decision.

RICOCHET FROM WWE TO AEW?

Trevor Mann, as Ricochet is actually called, had joined the league in 2018, having previously earned an excellent reputation, especially with his appearances in NJPW in Japan.

Ricochet, known for his spectacular aerial moves, held the Intercontinental and US Titles in WWE and had a big match with Logan Paul at the recent SummerSlam. However, his career never took off to the extent that many had predicted.

Most recently, Ricochet held WWE’s newly introduced Speed Title – the five-minute matches are broadcast via social media. Ricochet losing the title to Andrade on Friday in a pre-SmackDown taped match had already sparked speculation. It had been leaked a few weeks ago that Ricochet’s deal would expire this summer.

If the news of the switch does come true, Ricochet is likely to be hotly courted by rival AEW. Among others, he would meet his up-and-coming companion Will Ospreay, who made headlines a few weeks ago with telling comments about him.

Ospreay said in an interview that Ricochet was being sold short by WWE, even calling the way Ricochet had been used recently “repulsive”. If Ricochet does indeed go to AEW, a comeback with NJPW is also open to him, as the league cooperates with Tony Khan’s promotion.

AEW cannot yet officially negotiate with Ricochet and present an offer. After the end of his contract with WWE – the exact date is unclear – Ricochet could theoretically appear immediately in another league, the well-known 90-day no-show clause only applies to stars released by WWE.

FUTURE OF CHAD GABLE AND NATALYA ALSO OPEN

As previously reported by the Wrestling Observer, several other WWE contracts are about to expire or have already expired: The future of veteran Natalya, Bret Hart’s niece, and Chad Gable is also open.

It was reported that former Olympic wrestler Gable’s contract had actually already expired. However, he is still right in the middle of the WWE storylines, challenging Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn at Clash at the Castle in Glasgow on Saturday. According to the Observer, Gable, who was recently given a strong showing by WWE executives around “Triple H” Paul Levesque, is said to have received an “excellent” offer from WWE, and AEW is also interested.

Becky Lynch’s deal has definitely already expired and, according to the Observer, she will be taking a longer break from the ring – whether Seth Rollins’ wife will also consider a change afterwards is, however, rather questionable
