Christos Tzolis shot himself into the international spotlight in the jersey of Fortuna Düsseldorf. Currently, the 23-year-old is scoring goals for Club Brugge – but is already on the radars of Premier League clubs. Before that, he also has tasks ahead of him with Greece’s national team.
Christos Tzolis surely imagined his farewell from Düsseldorf differently: After the 3-0 win in the first leg of the relegation play-off, in which the Greek delivered a gala performance and set up all three goals, his Fortuna looked like a sure thing to be promoted to the Bundesliga, but in the end VfL Bochum saved themselves in the return game after a furious comeback in a penalty shootout. Tzolis converted his spot-kick, but that was the beginning of the end for Fortuna. And while Düsseldorf are attempting to return to the Bundesliga this season, Tzolis moved on to the Champions League last summer.
