The current weather forecast for the race in Azerbaijan

The current weather forecast for the fifth race of the 2022 Formula 1 season in Baku with the forecasts for the subsequent race in Montreal

There are very crucial questions on every race weekend of Formula 1 2022. Namely: what is the weather forecast? Can we expect a wet track on site? Will we need intermediates or even rain tyres? Or will it simply remain consistently dry from practice through qualifying to the race and dry tyres will suffice? In short: What do the drivers around Sebastian Vettel and Mick Schumacher, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton have to be prepared for?

To be able to answer these questions, our editors keep a close eye on the weather at the Formula 1 venues a few days before the tests or race weekends begin. And as the event progresses, this preview article is constantly updated with new weather information such as temperature in degrees Celsius, wind strength, cloud cover and expected precipitation for the individual days per weekend.

The result is a weather forecast that is as accurate as possible for the respective Grands Prix of the 2022 Formula 1 season. However, all information is without guarantee, as some motorsport venues such as Spa-Francorchamps or the Nürburgring are known for having particularly changeable weather that cannot always be accurately forecast. Precipitation can also occur there unannounced.

The next time Formula One takes to the track in Azerbaijan will be in Baku, from 10-12 June 2022 for the eighth race of the 2022 Formula One season.

The latest forecast for the eighth race of the season in Baku (10 to 12 June):

The eighth chapter of the 2022 Formula One season will be written this weekend in Baku, on a track that combines high speeds with challenging and tight sections.

Accordingly, the race in Azerbaijan has almost never disappointed in recent years – even though it has mostly not rained during it. And in 2022, the Formula 1 squad can once again look forward to a very sunny and warm weekend.

Sunday’s race will take place in very similar conditions to qualifying. Once again, there is not a cloud in the sky and the temperatures once again go up to 27 degrees Celsius. Only the wind conditions change. The wind is completely reversed and will blow from the south on Sunday.

For the riders, this still means a crosswind, but it comes from the complete opposite direction. Individual gusts of wind will again reach speeds of 40 km/h, but this should not be as significant as on Saturday in view of the fully fuelled cars. All in all, Formula 1 and its fans are in for a summery motorsport festival in Baku.

The first forecast for the following race in Montreal (19.06.2022):

After three years, Formula 1 returns to Montreal a week after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Ideal external conditions are now forecast for the first race at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve since 2019. Temperatures of between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius and no rain are expected. But that doesn’t necessarily mean anything at the moment.
