The Big Heavyweight Championship Fight Has Been Announced: Deontay Wilder vs. Anthony Joshua

Boxing fans have been waiting for this announcement, as Wilder’s co-manager Shelly Finkel revealed that terms have been agreed for Wilder to fight Joshua in the UK. Whilst WBC champion Wilder had offered Joshua $50m to fight in the USA, he has now agreed to come to the UK for the next fight.

Joshua has sights on ‘undisputed champion of the world’ accolade

The dates and location are yet to be finalised but fans will be keen to get the chance to see WBA (Super), WBO, IBO and IBF title-holder Joshua take on the challenge of Wilder for the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. Joshua has had his eye on this accolade for some time and after picking up the WBO title after defeating Joseph Parker, he was quick to show his intent. Wilder was equally quick to show his own desire to get the fight set up.

A two-fight deal is on the table

Wilder’s team has apparently offered a two-fight deal, which would include a rematch in the US. This is a truly mouth-watering match-up of undefeated champions. Joshua has managed to win four belts in his 21 successful bouts, whilst WBC belt winner Wilder has gone 40 fights undefeated. The stats really do make this a much-anticipated contest, before you even consider what is at stake.

Joshua wants to follow in the footsteps of Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis before him, to become the undisputed champion of the world and it is sure to be a very exciting prospect once all of the details have been decided. Being a Londoner, Joshua may want to have the fight at the O2 Arena but all will be revealed in due course.
