The Bavarians masterful – Magdeburg draws with favorites

In the south-east of the VBLCC, FC Bayern Munich remain at the top with a flawless record. In the north-west, Magdeburg achieved their next notable success.

FC Bayern Munich got off to a strong start in the Virtual Bundesliga Club Championship (VBLCC) in 2023/24. However, points often failed to materialize, especially towards the end. Will the points continue to come in the spring this season?

At least the Munich team got off to a very good start again in the new season. The new duo of Furkan Kayacik and Koray Kücükgünar continued their flawless record on matchday 5. Bayern collected three points against bottom-placed Augsburg after two games (3:1/4:2) and thus continue to lead the South-East Division.

Munich’s most persistent pursuer is top title favorite RBLZ Gaming. After their surprising defeat at the start against SC Freiburg, the team from Saxony-Anhalt got back on track and have now won four games in a row. Leipzig left the virtual pitch as the winner after three games against TSG Hoffenheim, and after just two duels in the catch-up game against Karlsruher SC. The game against the team from Baden had to be postponed last week due to internet problems at the RBLZ.

SC Freiburg were particularly prolific in front of goal, scoring a total of 18 goals against 1. FC Nürnberg in two matches. Gianluca Mautone and David Queck both scored nine goals, with Mautone scoring nine times in total.

No change in the northwest

In the northwest, two teams that were seen as underdogs before the season continue to do well. Despite a draw, Borussia Dortmund remains in the lead. The point split against title defender SC Paderborn remains without consequence for the black and yellow in the standings, since 1. FC Magdeburg was also unable to win.

However, this draw is by no means a negative result. After all, Magdeburg faced VfL Bochum, who are title contenders mainly due to the signing of Jonas Wirth. While the FCM created a good starting position in the double (3:1), it was the eFootballer of the Year 2024 who brought Bochum back into the race – thanks to his 5:2 victory. Since the decisive third game ended in a 2:2 draw, both teams share the points.
