Holstein Kiel remain unbeaten under new coach Marcel Rapp: The Störche turned around a deficit within 96 seconds to win 2-1 against Dynamo Dresden They showed two faces from the point.
While Kiel coach Marcel Rapp only brought on Neumann for Rupp after the 1:1 at HSV Dresden coach Alexander Schmidt changed his starting eleven three times after the 0:1 against Sandhausen: Becker, Will and Königsdörffer replaced Aidonis, Herrmann and Chris Löwe.
With four games in a row without a win, both teams were under pressure. Perhaps because the visitors had only ever lost matches with a goal difference of 0:8, they started defensively. Dynamo dropped far back at the start and let KSV Holstein have more of the ball. And the home side certainly knew what to do with it.
Dresden ice-cold, Mühling fails from the point
Patient and eager to play, they found gaps in the otherwise stable Dynamo defence. Too often, however, the Störche lacked the final precision and missed the goal clearly and hastily in promising positions. Dresden, on the other hand, came forward with one of the few but dangerous pinpricks, when Will failed with his great long-range shot against Dähne (24th).
But Dresden kept the pressure on. First, Becker missed narrowly (27th), but only five minutes later Dynamo rejoiced: Lorenz involuntarily sharpened a cross from Königsdörffer and played directly into the feet of Mörschel, who chased the ball into the net from close range for 1:0. The Störchen then had the chance to equalise early from eleven metres: After Sollbauer’s running duel with Mühling resulted in the ball hitting his arm from close range, referee Florian Heft awarded a controversial penalty kick (44th). But Mühling failed to save from Broll (45.+1).
Kiel’s magic 96 seconds
Kiel were also denied a goal at the start of the second period. Substitute Reese, like Pichler, failed to score (47th, 50th). Then things got hectic: Schröter and Herrmann (58., 60.) as well as Holtby missed the best chances to score for their own colours (59.). Five minutes later, however, Kiel were allowed to try again from the spot. Aidonis, who had come on as a substitute, had previously clumsily hit Neumann (64th). And unlike his predecessor Mühling, Pichler overcame Broll and scored the equaliser (65th).
Just one turn of the clock later, the Störche again found themselves in a jubilant mood: Reese’s direct shot in the penalty area was the perfect finish to a great chance and put KSV Holstein in the lead (66). It took the hosts just 96 seconds to turn the game around. In the following period, Dresden was in demand again. In the final phase, Dynamo tried to avert the threat of their fifth league defeat in a row. But the uninspired Saxons had little to offer offensively against the passionately defending home side, so that in the end it remained 2-1 for Kiel. Rapp thus secured his first win in his fourth game as Störche coach, while the situation for Dresden is becoming increasingly bleak.
