Testroet: “One touch and he’s in”

SV Sandhausen find their feet under new coach Alois Schwartz and leave the relegation places after victory in Dresden.

Sandhausen celebrated a 1:0 win at Dynamo Dresden and climbed to 15th place. The matchwinner was, of all people, former Dresden player (2015-18) Pascal Testroet. The 31-year-old scored the decisive goal with a lot of willpower and strong technique. Testroet’s presence also caused trouble in the Dynamo backline time and again.

Third win away from home

The development of the SVS under the old and new coach Alois Schwartz is remarkable overall: Sandhausen remained unbeaten for the third time in a row, celebrated already the third away victory. In the entire pre-season, the SVS picked up just three points in foreign stadiums. For Schwartz, who took over from Gerhard Kleppinger in September, it was already the second win in five games.

Without the injured Arne Sicker, Sandhausen lost some offensive power compared to the 2:2 against Bremen. Instead, however, the attacking duo of Testroet/Alexander Esswein, both 31 years old, proved how valuable experience can be. The North Baden side were mercilessly effective. Testroet described his goal of the day as typical for him: “One contact with the ball and it’s in.”

Schwartz, meanwhile, would have liked to see “less passivity” in the second half. After a false start with four points from seven games but eight points from the last five, it is almost a luxury problem.

This coming Sunday, the Schwartz protégés are once again in action away from home. And the hurdle could not be higher: They will be playing against league leaders FC St. Pauli, who have won all six of their home games so far with a goal difference of 19:3.
