Good news from Marc-André ter Stegen: the national goalkeeper is back on the pitch. Barca reported his return to goalkeeper training.
This weekend is a particularly pleasant one for FC Barcelona. On Saturday, league leaders Real Madrid only drew after playing with a man less, and then second-placed Atletico only drew after playing with a man less – so on Monday, the Catalans can take back the top spot with a home win against Rayo Vallecano.
And on Saturday evening, FCB announced the return of Marc-André ter Stegen to individual goalkeeping training. The 32-year-old national team goalkeeper ruptured his patella tendon five months ago.
“Everything is going in the right direction,” said club coach Hansi Flick recently – although that does not mean that ter Stegen will return to the pitch this season. The next important phase of his rehabilitation is still taking place away from the rest of the team.
In the Barca goal, ter Stegen is represented by Inaki Pena and occasionally by the reactivated Wojciech Szczesny.
