Tennis: Zverev conqueror Korda eliminated in the semi-finals

The American loses to the unseeded Alexei Popyrin

Sebastian Korda had beaten Alexander Zverev in the quarter-finals in Montreal – but then it was over for the American in the semi-finals: Korda lost 6:7 (0:7) and 3:6 to Australian Alexei Popyrin at the ATP Masters. The unseeded Popyrin will meet Andrei Rublev in the final of the tournament, which has prize money of 8.1 million dollars. The Russian defeated Matteo Arnaldi (Italy) 6:4 and 6:2 in the last four.

Korda had beaten Zverev 7:6 (7:5), 1:6 and 6:4. However, the player from Hamburg was obviously in poor health. Zverev kept coughing. As a result, the 27-year-old, who also failed to reach the quarter-finals at the Olympic Games in Paris, missed the chance to win his second title in the Canadian metropolis after 2017.
