Czech Marketa Vondrousova has already had to miss the Summer Games in Paris due to a hand injury
Czech player Marketa Vondrousova will miss another highlight of the year after the Olympic tennis tournament.
The 2023 Wimbledon champion will also not compete at the US Open, Vondrousova announced on Friday, just over a week before the start of the last Grand Slam tournament of the year.
The 25-year-old, Olympic silver medalist in 2021, was unable to take part in the Summer Games in Paris due to a hand injury. Instead, she would “concentrate on the US Open”, Vondrousova announced in July – but her comeback in New York will now come to nothing.
The world number 18 has not played a match since her first-round defeat at Wimbledon at the beginning of July
