Happy news at the start of the new year: Petra Kvitová and her husband are expecting a child. Now she will take a long break
Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitová is to become a mother for the first time. She and her husband Jiří Vaněk are expecting a child in the summer, the 33-year-old tennis player from the Czech Republic announced on Instagram at the start of the new year.
“While I will miss my annual trip to Australia and the sport I love, I’m looking forward to spending time at home and preparing for this next exciting chapter in our lives,” she wrote. Vaněk is also her coach. She will therefore no longer be at the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam tournament of the year starting on January 14.
