Stuttgart – The German tennis pros Oscar Otte and Jan-Lennard Struff have reached the last 16 at the ATP tournament in Stuttgart.
Otte, 28, from Cologne, won the German first-round clash with Daniel Altmaier from Kempen 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (7-4). Struff, from Warstein, won 7:5, 5:7, 7:6 (10:8) against American Marcos Giron in his comeback after a two-month injury break due to a broken toe.
In the next round of the €769,645 grass-court event at Weissenhof, Otte, ranked 61st in the world, will meet Canadian number four Denis Shapovalov, who had a walk-through in the opening round. The 32-year-old Struff, now only number 103 in the world, will face Lorenzo Sonego from Italy. The field in Stuttgart is led by Greek world number five Stefanos Tsitsipas.
