Munich – Norwegian Casper Ruud has reached the quarter-finals of the tennis tournament in Munich. The number two seed narrowly defeated Alex Molcan of Slovakia 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.
The 23-year-old Ruud will now face Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp in the last eight. After the surprising exit of Olympic champion Alexander Zverev, Ruud is the top favourite to win the title at the traditional event at the Iphitos facility. Oscar Otte was the only German who still had a chance to reach the quarter-finals in the afternoon. He met the number three of the tournament in US-American Reilly Opelka.
