German tennis pros Andreas Mies and Kevin Krawietz will face US players Mackenzie McDonald/Marcos Giron in the first round of doubles competition at the US Open, according to the draw.
The two-time Grand Slam tournament winners would face the winner of the Soonwoo Kwon/Ilja Iwaschka (South Korea/Belarus) vs Robin Hase/Philipp Oswald (Netherlands/Austria) duel if they win in the second round.
Tim Pütz also thinks he has a chance of winning the title in New York. The 34-year-old from Frankfurt will start with Australian Michael Venus, seeded number four. The duo will meet Andrej Golubew/Petro Martinez (Kazakhstan/Spain) in the opening round.
In the women’s singles, the Williams sisters Serena and Venus will start their doubles comeback against the Czech Republic’s Lucie Hradecka/Linda Noskova. The US women, who have won 14 Grand Slam tournaments together in doubles, are back on court together for the first time since the 2018 French Open thanks to a wildcard. For Serena Williams (40), the US Open will most likely be the last tournament of her career.
