Adam Szalai was missing from Mainz’s line-up in Munich. The striker had a minor car accident and therefore did not take part in the match.
Adam Szalai had already been absent from Mainz’s final training session before the away match in Munich. After the 1:2 against Bayern coach Bo Svensson commented on the reasons.
According to Svensson, the striker had “a minor car accident on Friday with no injuries or others involved”. And, “We decided it was better if he didn’t go.”
Whether Szalai, who has come off the bench eight times in ten games (one goal) this season, will be available for the penultimate game of the year on Tuesday against Hertha BSC (8.30pm), Svensson “could not answer at this stage”.
