Surprise before US election: Kamala Harris comes out as a Formula 1 fan

US presidential candidate Kamala Harris surprises with a confession: she is a big fan of Formula 1 and Lewis Hamilton

Surprise in the US presidential election campaign. Formula One has gained a new fan who was not previously known to follow the sport at all. We are talking about Vice President Kamala Harris, who will face Donald Trump in the election in just under a month.

The 59-year-old is likely to have now won over Formula One fans, because in an interview with talk show host Howard Stern on his Sirius XM show, the presidential candidate admitted to being a big fan of the racing series.

“Oh, it’s so good,” enthuses Harris. “We love it! Our whole family does!”

Asked by moderator Stern if she is just saying that for tactical reasons, she replies clearly: “No, God, no!” Nevertheless, she has to admit that she hasn’t necessarily had the time to follow Formula 1 intensively and regularly lately, after all, she is currently in the final stretch of her election campaign before heading to the polls on November 5.

And depending on where Formula One is racing, the times of day in America are also completely different: when the last race started in Singapore at 8 p.m. local time, it was between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m. in the U.S. – depending on the time zone.

But the next race on the program is the US Grand Prix, so the race in the States will be at a reasonable time – just like the Mexico Grand Prix a week later and the race in Brazil a week after that.

But whether Kamala Harris will have time to devote to Formula 1 is another question, after all, the race is then entering the hot phase of the election campaign.

But regardless of whether she follows the races or not, she keeps her fingers crossed for one driver: “Of course Lewis Hamilton,” she says.

Talk show host Howard Stern, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to be a fan of Formula 1, because he just replies, “I don’t even know who that is.”

“You don’t watch Formula One?” Harris asks him after telling him that Hamilton will leave Mercedes. She advises him: ‘You should watch it, then maybe you’ll be excited too.’
