Gerrit Holtmann has to take a compulsory break. The midfielder was operated on Monday.
The surgery on both groins, which had been planned for some time, was successful, VfL Bochum announced on Twitter. It was deliberately carried out at the beginning of the international break.
The club left it open how long Holtmann would have to take a break. So far, Holtmann has played in ten of the eleven Bundesliga games in 2021/22, only missing the first matchday.
On Saturday, the 26-year-old former Mainz player was substituted for the injured Danny Blum in the 39th minute of the 2:0 home win against TSG Hoffenheim
